Name: Antonia Caldwell
Nicknames: Toni
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance: Toni is a little on the short side, at five foot three. She usually keeps her brown hair tied back in a ponytail or a messy bun in order to keep it out of her eyes, which are also plain brown, much to her chagrin. During the summer, she sports a dark tan from spending hours at the pool, where she loves to swim around in the deep water. Don't think that she sometimes pretends that she's a Dewgong, though, because she doesn't!
Toni usually wears simple clothes in cool colors. Her favorite outfit is a dark blue T-shirt with jeans and a black belt which she can clip her Pokeballs on. Toni rarely wears any makeup or jewelery. Her equipment is carried in a light brown backpack, usually over one shoulder, despite her mother's warnings about her posture.
Personality: Toni is very quiet around strangers, and takes a while to open up to someone. People who get to know her are often surprised by her critical, sarcastic sense of humor. She likes to make people laugh, and when sarcasm doesn't work, she might resort to outright mockery. She prefers to avoid conflict, and will quickly back out of a fight. Toni's not an emotional person most of the time, but can get very worked up in stressful situations, especially social ones.
She likes to work in a group, because she likes the feeling of having a safety net if she messes up. However, she won't go out of her way to form a group; she prefers to quietly latch on to someone else. She's pretty passive, and tends to yield to whatever the rest of the group wants to do.
Toni has a bit of an obsessive personality, and when she takes an interest in something, she'll do almost anything to get it. From an early age, this was the case with Pok?mon. It started with stuffed dolls and picture books when she was a small child, but her dream has always been to be a Pok?mon trainer.
History: Her parents, Laura and Max, run a bakery together. They often made treats for Pok?mon, and she loved to help with these, often creating special treats for different kinds of Pok?mon. Though her Pok?mon treats usually went over well, she was never very good at satisfying people, mostly because they weren't as interesting. Max encouraged her fascination with Pok?mon, buying her many books about them and letting her watch trainer battles on TV. Laura, a very nonviolent person, never agreed with battling, and still has hopes that her daughter will decide to become a breeder instead. She also has a little sister, Minerva, who is three years younger than herself. The two are somewhat close, and Toni has high hopes that in a couple years, her sister will come and join her on her Pok?mon adventure.
Toni's parents let her go to Pok?mon school, where she made a few friends and excelled in her classes without much effort. She then returned to help out with the bakery for a while. Now, her sister is off to Pok?mon school herself, and Toni is ready to start her life as a trainer.
Roleplay Sample: Toni sat cross-legged on her bed, struggling internally with herself. On one hand, what was a journey without anything to read? On the other...she looked at the pile of books she had gathered. She'd kept every book about Pok?mon she ever owned, and her collection ranged from the old picture book See Growlithe Run to the fascinating memoir Never Cry Mightyena. All wonderful books, to be sure, but only an idiot or a bodybuilder would bring them all. Okay, look, she thought to herself, let's just bring two paperbacks. You can live with that. She nodded decisively, and began sorting through the pile, occasionally sadly stroking the cover of a favorite book before setting it aside.
After about five minutes, she had chosen her two. One of them was a favorite novel of hers, the other a good book on Pok?mon behavior. Sensible choices, really. She stashed them in her bag, and stacked the other books in a cardboard box, which she put on the top shelf of her closet, where they'd be safe.
Now then, what are we missing? She grabbed a checklist from her dresser, and looked it over. Books, check. Clothes, check. Swimsuit, check. Food...
"How could I possibly forget food?" she muttered to herself, heading down the stairs to the kitchen. "Honestly, I'm probably gonna die within a week, Pok?mon or no Pok?mon..."
